Ebola confusing in the Czech Republic is not hardened. In the night of Sunday, Minister of Health Vlastimil Valek gave the All-Clear: the American citizen who had returned from an Africa journey is not infected with the dangerous virus.
In the patient in the Bulavka hospital, infection with the Ebola virus is not confirmed. “The Robert Koch Institute recently sent us the test results that clearly excluded a disease from a hemorrhagic fever,” said Valek.
Relief in the patient and 26 contact persons
The suspicion was reported on Friday evening. Before that, the Czech health authorities had informed that after a stay in the Democratic Republic of Congo the American had entered the Czech Republic on 6 May. All 26 people with whom he had come into contact since had been identified for safety reasons and quarantine.
Most of them are healthcare staff, said a spokeswoman for the CTK press agency. The patient himself was treated in Prague at an isolating station of the Bulovka clinic. His condition was “stable,” it said.
High -death rate
Diseases by the Ebola and the related Marburg virus are counted on the hemorrhagic fever, which is characterized by fever and bleeding. From person to person, infection is applied by direct contact with the sick and their blood, body fluids and excretions. Depending on the type of virus, the mortality is between 30 and 90 percent.
