Athletic champion puts on overalls

The Athletic champion wore his overalls to work again today. The red and white team trained at the Lezama facilities in their first training session after winning the Cup title on Saturday.

The team returned from Seville on Sunday afternoon and the players immediately went home. On Monday and Tuesday it’s time to relax with some events in between. The coaching staff and captains went to Gernika yesterday morning to receive the award from the General Meetings and in the afternoon the footballers celebrated the Cup in the streets of Bilbao with many fans, mostly young people. The surprise came this morning, when the Ertzaintza opened a disciplinary file against some players for “unreported gatherings on public roads.”

The lions were seen smiling, enjoying their status as new Cup champions and there was no sign of last night’s party.

The only disadvantage is that of Yes. The Barakaldo centre-back continues to recover from the muscle injury he sustained at the Santiago Bernabéu which prevented him from being part of the squad for the final in Seville.
