A Lithuanian breaks the record for the oldest male world record

Their contest was remarkable because no one in history had ever sent the discus, a two-kilogram object, six times over seventy meters in the same competition.

At the time when World Athletics officially ratified this record, the oldest men’s world record would be the hammer with 86.74 meters by Russian Yuri Sedykh on August 30, 1986. In the women’s category the oldest remains the Czech Jarmila Kratochvilova in 800 , holding the record since July 26, 1983.
