American Sloane Stephens lived up to her status as favorite against Polish Magda Linette and, after suppressing the reaction of his opponent, he secured victory in the Rouen tournament, the eighth of his career and the first since 2022.
The 31-year-old Florida player, seeded sixth, won 6-1, 2-6 and 6-2 after two hours and twelve minutes of play.
Stephens avoided the reaction of the European player, aiming for his third trophy, and achieved his fourth victory in as many matches between the two. Sloane Stephens has always beaten Linette, although it was on a hard court before this Rouen event, on clay.
The American, facing the eleventh final of his career, brought the number of victories on his resume to eight after achieving his first since winning in Guadalajara in 2022.
The 2016 United States Open winner and 2018 Roland Garros finalist broke the bad streak that has plagued him in recent campaigns.
