UEFA has officially announced the referees who will attend the Euro Cup in Germany. Spain will be represented by up to five referees. Extremaduran referee Jesús Gil Manzano will represent Spain in the national team tournament in Europe and will be joined by his international assistants Ángel Nevado Rodríguez and Diego Barbero Sevilla.
This is the debut of the Extremaduran in the European national team tournament and took the baton from Mateu Lahoz and Del Cerro Grande in the 2021 event Jesús Gil Manzano has been an international referee since 2014 and has been in the First Division for 12 seasons. with 232 matches officiated. He has refereed up to 22 UEFA Champions League matches, including the semi-final between AC Milan and Inter last year.
Gil Manzano is part of the 19 field referees appointed by UEFA and of which 18 are European including Argentine Facundo Tello. This is the second appointment of a referee by CONMEBOL at the Euro Cup as it happened in 2021 where the Extremaduran is the UEFA representative in the Copa América itself. This summer there will be another European referee in the national team tournament on the South American continent
In addition, Spanish football will be represented by two VAR referees, such as Juan Martínez Munuera and Alejandro Hernández Hernández. Both have extensive international experience from the VAR position. Both at the last World Cup in Qatar and at the previous Euro Cup held in 2021
