Paris Saint-Germain lost 109.8 million euros last season, although a group of Ligue 1 clubs cut their losses by less than half, according to the latest report from French football’s financial gendarme.
The 18 Ligue 1 teams lost a total of 273 million in the 2022/23 season, compared to the 582 million lost last year, according to the document from the National Management Control Directorate (DNCG), which analyzes the financial health of French football .
PSG and Lyon, 77% defeat in Ligue 1
PSG had red numbers of 109.9 million while Lyon had red numbers of 99 million and between them totaled 77% of losses in the French first division.
The Parisian club’s losses are lower than the massive figure of 368 million it lost in the 2021/2022 season.
Lille, on the other side
On the other hand, Lille closed last season with a profit of 30 million, more than the positive 22 million it registered in the 2021/2022 season.
Seven other clubs recorded a positive balance, between 14.9 million for under Clermont and 144,000 euros for Reims.
