This is how the F1 World Cup classification looks after Verstappen concedes in Miami: Sainz and Alonso hold on

Date:

The Dutch Max Verstappen won the Miami Grand Prix Sprint Race, but his dominance surprisingly dissolved on Sunday. Success eluded him in Australia, which was scratched Carlos Sainz. He didn’t succeed in Miami either. Red Bull couldn’t keep up with McLaren, a team that once again took victory.

The British Lando Norris24 years old, made his record debut as an F1 GP champion, driven by the Safety Car on lap 28. McLaren has not climbed to the top of the podium since Daniel Ricciardo in 2021, with English coming second

He got 25 points for the best. He had to settle for 18 Verstappen, who left Miami with a haul of 26, after being best in Saturday’s sprint. His lead in the World Championship remains strong, although he doesn’t like being more than seven seconds behind Norris.

Carlos Sainz who finished second on the grid, was not so lucky. He came fourth, just behind his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc. The Madrid native remains fourth overall, albeit with Norris just two points behind.

Fernando Alonsowho gained six places to be ninth and enter the points, remains eighth in the World Championship, overtaken by Mercedes by George Russelleighth in Miami, and Lewis Hamiltonsixth in the exam.
