This Sunday, the Portuguese Police conducted a search in several club establishments Port in relation to an operation that was triggered months ago as a result of incidents recorded at the club’s General Assembly. The new management of the club, led by André Villas-Boasreported in a statement about the searches, which were carried out in the store of the Estadio do Dragão partner and in the company Porto Comercial, in which Porto has a stake.
The club is “committed to providing all support to the authorities in carrying out their efforts.” Porto’s Public Security Police (PSP) confirmed to EFE that the records are related to the so-called ‘Operation Praetorian’, which investigates incidents that took place at the club’s General Assembly, with attacks on fans.
The operation resulted in twelve arrests, including that of Fernando Madureira, leader of the club’s main fan group, the ‘Super Dragones’. According to documents from the Prosecutor’s Office cited by local media, this group intended to create a “climate of intimidation and fear” that would be “favorable to the interests” of the group’s then management, headed by Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. The leadership of Pinto da Costa has turned itself in and offered its cooperation to the authorities.
