The Israel-Palestine conflict worsens in football: the Asian Confederation speaks out

The Asian Football Confederation supported the Palestinian proposal to suspend Israel of FIFA because of the current war with Loop in its congress held last Thursday on Bangkokwhere the regional body also removed term limits for its top officials.

“The AFC is only as strong as its members, and when one of them suffers, all others are affected,” Sheikh Salman told delegates.

“The AFC is next to Palestinian Associationand we accompany them in finding effective football-related solutions to the grievances raised by Palestinian Association in his proposal,” he added.

“It is our duty to support the Palestinian Association to achieve a quick and effective resolution, in accordance with the rules, regulations and laws of AFC and the FIFA” he hinted.

The proposal was sent by the Palestinians to FIFA on March 11 and debated at the body’s annual meeting, after being added to the agenda with the support of the federations Algerian, Jordanian, Syrian and Yemeni.

“Football can do little, because to change the situations in all parts of the world that are tragic, the only thing we can do is to show unity, because football unites everyone.”

The move came as delegates approved a motion to remove term limits for the President and members of the body’s Executive Committee.

Only Australia and Jordan They voted against the motion, which limited the term of office to three four-year terms.
