The Dutch cycling team Jumbo Vismaincluding Danish Jonas Vingegaard in the head, is these days in Sierra Nevada (Granada) preparing its participation in the next edition of Tour de France.
This is the second year in a row that Jumbo Visma chose the province of Granada to prepare its participation in the gala race, reported the Provincial Council of Granada in a note.
The main runners of the team arrived in the Sierra Nevada last week and will train at altitude for a few days to face the difficult French race in July, the last two editions of which have been won by the star of the team, the Dane. Jonas Vingegaard, who is trying to get back into shape after recovering from a broken collarbone and several ribs which happened in the fall he suffered on April 4 in Itzulia.
Cyclists are concentrated in ski resort apartments and in Sierra Nevada High Performance Centerand they go out every day to ride the provincial roads.
The provincial deputy for Tourism and Heritage of Granada, Marta Nievas, emphasized the choice of the province through Jumbo Visma “for its excellent conditions for professional training“, with excellent facilities, good weather, first-class cycling challenges, roads with low traffic density and, of course, altitude to improve the runners’ performance.”
To take advantage of the presence of Jumbo Visma, the Provincial Tourist Board of the Granada Provincial Council, in collaboration with the Spanish Tourist Office in The Hague and Andalusian Tourism, organized a familiarization trip for the Dutch and Belgian media with the aim of promote the province as a cycle tourism destination in these countries.
