Date:

In a rare reaction, Jon Rahm bounced back Thursday after a rough startwith four bogeys in the first six holes, and signed -1 in the first round of the PGA Championship.

How many times have you seen someone start out losing one, two or three and then do what they were supposed to do?” Rahm said at the end of the day. “I usually think that every time someone wins a tournament, they always have a down day. But the other rounds are good” added the man from Barrika.

At Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky (USA), Rahm delivered a card of 72 strokes and eight strokes back of the leaderthe American Xander Schauffele (-9).

Rahm, fighting to give Spain its first PGA Championship in its history, made birdies on holes seven, ten, thirteen, fourteen, 17 and 18.

The one from Barrika, champion of the United States Open in 2021 and the Augusta Masters in 2023, will have to return in the next three rounds of a tournament that ends on Sunday.
