We would like to thank the PGA Tour and the entire golf world for their support. “Life wasn’t always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he is now resting in peace.”
Grayson Murray has spoken openly about his struggle with alcoholism and mental health issues. After winning the Sony Open in January, an emotional Murray spoke about his struggle with mental health problems and admitted he was considering suicide.
“It’s not easy,” he said then. “I wanted to give up many times. Give up on myself. Give up on golf. Give up on life, once.”
Grayson Murray also won the Barbasol Championship in 2017. His best finish in a major was tied for 22nd at the 2017 PGA Championship.
He earned his 2024 PGA Tour card by winning twice on the Korn Ferry Tour last season. That tour met Murray on Sunday morning with a moment of remembrance.
