Canadian Derek Gee (Israel Premier Tech), winner of the third stage of the Dauphiné and new yellow jersey of the aforementioned French cycling eventcelebrated the fact of having his first victory in Europe, also in a “special level” test.
“I’ve won the national time trial title twice, but this victory is on another level, it’s incredibly special to win the Dauphiné. “I’ve waited a long time for a victory in Europe, I’ve finished second many times and it’s really nice to get it,” Gee said at the finish line.
Gee took advantageor in the last kilometer an attack from his teammate Neilands and then won the game against Frenchman Romain Gregoire, who tried to surprise him.
“A big part of this win was due to Krists Neillands attack with a kilometer to go. I was in a good position and he just held on. When he came back, I didn’t plan to attack, but there was. a pause, I went to Gregoire and took the chance”, he concluded.
