In fact Barella would become the highest paid Italian player in Serie A since then will receive 7 million euros, including variables that are easy to follow, according to the season. The Sardinian midfielder is concentrating in Germany with the ‘azzurra’ team although he will miss his debut this Sunday against Albania due to injury. On the 20th he could recover to face Spain.

Barella had been negotiating the extension of his contract, which expired in 2026.

“Very happy and excited”

“Today I am very happy and excited to sign the extension of my contract with Inter for several years,” Barella said in Inter’s statement. “I never had any doubts: I believe in this project. And, above all, I want this signing to come before the Euro Cup.”

“I am really proud to be able to defend the colors of this great Club for so long,” continued Barella. “My desire is to continue on the path of success with the group and the mister (Simone Inzaghi) that we have been working with for the past few years. We want to grow more to give more joy to our fans. We lived unforgettable moments with them, and I’m sure there are many more to come. Focusing on the European Championship with Italy, we will meet again when the season resumes soon. I can’t wait to start again in front of the wonderful Nerazzurri crowd. “All together for Inter.”

Seven titles since his arrival in 2019

Barella arrived at Inter in 2019 from Cagliari and since then he has won two Serie A (2021 and 2024), two Coppas (2022 and 2023), three Super Cups (2021, 2022 and 2023), in addition to being runner-up -up to the Champions League (2023) and the Europa League (2020).

After securing the continuation of Barella, the aim of Giuseppe Marotta, the new president of Inter, is to reach an agreement for the renewal of coach Simone Inzaghi and the team’s leading scorer and star Lautaro Martínez. Negotiations are well underway and all indications are that the signing will take place in the coming weeks.
