The FIFA gave reason to Ecuador in the dispute raised by the Federation of Chile, which accused its Ecuadorian counterpart of falsifying the documentation of Byron Castillo, players from Ecuador whose real nationality is Colombian.
In its official statement, FIFA limits itself to explaining that “after reviewing all documentation received from the parties, the Disciplinary Committee of FIFA has decided to close the disciplinary procedure initiated against the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) ”.
Chile claims to be the tallest body in the world subtract Ecuador points got into games that Byron Castillo would have made, which would mean his departure from the World Cup in Qatar for the benefit of Chile.
According to the newspaper El País, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee did not attend the claim of improper alignment Chile showed in the eight games Castillo played. This organization is based on two sentences of the year 2021: firstly, Castillo was declared an Ecuadorian citizen with full rights and secondly, urged the authorities of that country to give him a national identification card.
FIFA relies on that fact cannot enact law against the jurisprudence of a sovereign nationwhere it accepts the arguments presented by Ecuador as good.
Chile, as the plaintiff, now has ten days to obtain the grounds for FIFA’s decision and another five days to appeal the decision; the final decision, in case this route is exhausted, will be known between September and October. Chile’s last way is to go to TAD. FIFA, as explained in its statement, will only make it public reasonable decision if such sentence is requested by either of the parties.
