The Polish Magdalena Frech, fifth seed, and the British Emma Raducanu, reached the quarterfinals of the Nottingham tennis tournament that half of the playing order was not completed due to rain that caused two scheduled games to be moved to Friday.
Frech had to overcome German Tatjana Maria (3-6, 6-3 and 6-1) to advance in the competition. The Pole will be the rival of the current champion, the British Katie Boulter, third seed.
Raducanu won with authority and without setbacks against Ukrainian Daria Snigur, 6-2 and 6-2 and will play against the winner of the duel between the British Francesca Jones and the American Ashlyn Krueger, who had to be suspended in the third set, when the local tennis player served to win.
The match was suspended due to rain with 6-4, 4-6, 6-5 and 30-30 for Jones who held serve. Another scheduled match, the first seed, Tunisian Ons Jabeur and Czech Linda Fruhvirtova, could not even start.
This match and the final match between Jones and Krueger will be played on Friday.
