Bad news for Leicester: Brendan Rodgers announced on Thursday that midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will be out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury sustained in the ‘Foxes’ game against Rennes, in the Conference League, before the break for selections.
Ndidi underwent surgery and will be able to play again in June, Leicester manager Rodgers said. The midfielder missed the final playoff in Africa for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, where Ghana ousted Ndidi’s team, Nigeria.
Rodgers, who has coached Leicester since 2019, said: “It’s embarrassing for us but he’ll be ready for next season. He’s been a brilliant player since I came here.”
Ndidi signed for Leicester from Genk in January 2017. He has made 31 appearances for the ‘Foxes’ this season. Leicester, 10th in the Premier League, visit Manchester United, 6th, this Saturday. Rodgers’ team will face PSV in the Conference League quarterfinals.
