Toprak Razgatlioglu’s name has been heard loudly for MotoGP in recent weeks. Kenan Sofuoglu, his manager, said in an interview for ‘Speedweek’ that “there is a lot of interest in Toprak in the MotoGP paddock, which is for next year (2025). We have a two-year contract with BMW, but I have already informed BMW that we want to leave WorldSBK at the end of this year and move to MotoGP. I explained to them that this was Toprak’s wish.”
However, days later, Sofuoglu himself said that “we have a two-year contract with BMW and, as I have already said, we will only go to MotoGP when BMW agrees to this option. We don’t want to break our contract because we value BMW and we have achieved great achievements together (…) I can confirm that Toprak will also race in WorldSBK with BMW in 2025“as the contract says.”
The Turkish pilot is associated with Yamaha and Hondathe two Japanese factories in the Motorcycle World Championship are not going through their best moments right now.
Luca Marini, driver of the official golden wing team, pointed out in statements reported by ‘GP One’, that “Toprak Razgatlioglu will not help Honda. If a rider has to come, it will be interesting if he is from Aprilia or KTM. He will give knowledge. I can be an example, from Ducati. That said, if a new driver comes in, he needs to be technical and able to share information; give feedback in an appropriate manner. I want to highlight that I get along very well with Joan Mir, I hope she stays in the team“.
