Big Spanish record by Mohamed Attaoui in the 800m of the Diamond League in Monaco

Date:

Mohamed Attaoui signed this Friday a dizzying Spanish record for 800 meters. The Spanish runner was second 1:42.04 in the fastest race of the year and broke the previous national record.

It was in the Diamond League in Monaco, at the same stage where Saul Ordonez run in 1:43.65 six years ago. That Spanish record is now history as Attaoui shattered it in a final that took place at full speed.

Algeria won Djamel Sedjati with 1:41.46, national record, best world record of the year and bettering his mark as the third fastest man of history. He had already beaten the 1:41.56 he had set five days earlier in Paris. It was surpassed only by David Rudisha’s world record in London 2012 and Wilson Kipketer’s 1:41.11 in 1997.

But it is not far behind in terms of brand greatness Attaouisecond with that 1:42.04. Yours makes you a 9th fastest man ever just two weeks until the start of the Paris Games. Third place was 1:42.10 for Frenchman Gabriel Tual.

Attaoui arrived in Monaco in good shape. Just a few weeks ago European silver in Rome, which was his first major international medal. His best time of the year was 1:44.57, while his personal best was 1:44.35. Now, after his time in Monaco, he comes to the Olympic event with an excellent record.
