He Besiktas, the third most successful club in Türkiye, announced this Saturday the signing of the Italian striker Ciro Immobile, Sevilla player in 2016 and since then part of the Roman Lazio squad.
Immobile, 34, arrived on Friday night on a private plane at Istanbul’s Atatürk airport, accompanied by several members of the Turkish club’s board of directors who picked him up in Rome.
He is already wearing a black Besiktas shirt, with the number 17, and declared himself “very happy” and “ready to start the season.”
Negotiations with Lazio have been “very difficult” as the Italian team is “fighting hard,” a statement from Besiktas said.
However, the talks were able to be concluded “within 48 hours, thanks to the sacrifices made” by the player himself.
Immobile spent almost his entire career in Italy, except for an interlude in 2014-2015 at Borussia Dortmund, followed by a season at Sevilla, which saw him move to Lazio in 2016.
Besiktas finished sixth in this year’s Turkish Super League, a disappointing result for a club accustomed to being in the top three, and last won the competition in 2021.
