The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas lost this Friday, in the third round of the tournament Gstaad (Switzerland), in Italian Fabio Fognini through 6-4 and 6-3 after sixty-eight minutes of play.
In the first set he took a 3-1 lead after breaking his opponent’s serve. The Greek gave up his serve at one point, allowing Fognini to level the score in a period where each player asserted his serve, until Tsitsipas managed to close out the set with another break for 6-4.
In the second, Tsitsipas was more confident on serve (80% of games won on his serve, 4/5) and broke his opponent’s serve twice, which was enough for him to close out the rivalry with his in favor of the first ball of the match he played.
His next opponent in the semifinals will be the winner of the match between Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime and Italian Matteo Berretini.
On the other side of the draw, the second semi-final will be played between German Jan-Lennard Struff and Frenchman Quentin Halys.
