Gold Bench 2020-21 for Conte

Tottenham coach Antonio Conte on Thursday received the Panchina D’Oro (Golden Bench) award, identifying him as Italy’s best coach last season, 2020-21, where he won a ‘scudetto’ under the leadership of Inter.

“I’m happy because it’s an award given to me by my technical colleagues. I want to share this recognition with the staff and players that I shared a path with last season at Inter,” Conte said in Tottenham facilities, in which received the award granted by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).

This is the sixth recognition Conte has received from FIGC. The current Spurs coach has four Gold Benches, a Silver Bench and a special he earned by winning the English Premier League with Chelsea.

FIGC president, Gabriele Gravina, has stated that she “hopes” that this will be the last edition held so far and that she is “glad” that this year’s Panchina d’Oro has registered almost total participation of worthy.

“Congratulations to Antonio Conte and all the winners. Hopefully these great coaches will be a boost and example for new generations, especially in the field of training and continuous updating,” Gravina added.

Conte won the list with 20 votes, one more than Milan coach Stefano Pioli; and 12 more than Gian Piero Gasperini, the Atalanta coach.
