Alex Rins returns to Spielberg after skipping two Grand Prix

Date:

Alex Rins, who was forced to miss the last two Grands Prix due to injury at the Sachsenring, the last before the break, and Silverstone, the first after the holidays, will return this weekend at the Austrian Grand Prix, bringing a grid of original MotoGP is back in full.

“I’m very disappointed that I won’t be able to race at Silverstone, but it motivates me even more to come back stronger for Spielberg. I’ve been training on and off the bike, and I’m constantly in touch with medical experts throughout race process. . I feel good, so I’m excited to get back on my M1,” explained the Barcelonan in his Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team preview.

Rins, still suffering from the consequences of the massive accident suffered in 2023 at Mugello, with two operations for the fracture of the tibia and fibula of his right leg, thus missing 13 Grand Prix, was thrown from Yamaha in the race of Assen at the end of June. He was forced to undergo another operation to fix his broken right wrist and they took the opportunity to remove some screws from his right leg while he was on vacation.

He tried to come back after the break at Silverstone, he received the medical OK to start the Grand Prix as long as he didn’t take risks, but he crashed in Practice on Friday and that was the alarm signal to withdraw from the GP. “To be honest, I have felt more pain than I expected in my wrist after doing so many laps. So now I will have to go to my physio to do some recovery sessions,” he said then. Now he has two more weeks to recover.

The Spaniard, who is more focused on working on Yamaha’s development than its results, is currently in 21st position in the general classification.
