Condemned by the court now to the former president of the Chinese Football Super League (CSL), Ma Chenquanto 10 years in prison for accepting bribes and abusing his position to obtain benefits, in a week in which other Chinese football officials were sentenced for corruption.

In recent years, several Chinese football officials have been investigated for corruption, including the former president of the Super League Liu Jun or even the former coach Li Tieone of the legends of football in the Asian giant.
Last March, the former president of the CFA between 2019 and 2023, Chen Xuyuanwas sentenced to life in prison for accepting more than 81 million yuan (11.2 million dollars or 10.3 million euros) in bribes over a 13-year career.
Last October, the CFA promised “greater openness and transparency” in the face of numerous corruption cases registered within it. After coming to power in 2012, the current general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and president of the country, Xi Jinping, an anti-corruption campaign began in which several high-ranking Chinese officials were convicted of accepting million-dollar bribes.
