The classification process of European team for the Solheim Cup concluded Sunday at the British Open in Saint Andrews. Eight golfers entered directly: Charley Hull and Esther Henseleit (list of LET points), and Celine Boutier, Maja Stark, Linn Grant, Leona Maguire, Carlota Ciganda and Madelene Sasgtrom for the world ranking.
Let’s remember that Ciganda is the player who gave Europe victory in 2023 at Finca Cortesín (Málaga).
The Solheim team (at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, from September 13 to 15), of 12 players, was completed this Monday afternoon with the 4 wild cards of the captain, Norwegian Suzann Pettersen: the English Georgia Hall, the Swedish Anna Nordqvist, the Danish Emily Pedersen and the Swiss Albane Valenzuela.
The list of nine golfers who achieved direct qualification to the United States team was also announced. A team led by Nelly Korda, who will be joined by Lilia Vu, Lauren Coughlin, Ally Ewing, Allise Corpuz, Megan Khang, Andrea Lee, Rose Zhang and Alison Lee and will complete the three golfers selected by captain Stacy Lewis.
