Iga Swiatek suffered in his US Open debut

The Polish Iga Swiatekworld number 1, won the first round of the United States Open against the Russian on Tuesday with difficulty Kamilla Rakhimova79 in the world, whom he defeated in sets 6-4 and 7-6(6) in one hour and 52 minutes of play.

The Pole, winner of New York in 2022, started the match with two breaks and a 4-0 lead, but it turned out to be less.

In the second set, the tennis players went to a tiebreaker after losing a game each. In the tiebreak, the Pole had to overcome a 6-3 deficit, saving three set points, to avoid a third set.

Swiatek will play in the second round against Japanese Ena Shibahara, world number 217, who defeated Australian Daria Saville (no. 95) in three sets.

The US Open, the last ‘grand slam’ of the year, began this Monday and will be played until Sunday, September 8 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in the Big Apple.
