Jack Grealishto represent Ireland when he was a young man before changing his allegiance and moving to Englandwill take some beating from the home fans in Saturday’s Nations League clash between the sides in Dublin, the Irish striker said Callum Robinson.
The Manchester City winger, who was omitted from England’s Euro 2024 squad by former manager Gareth Southgate, was called up by interim manager Lee Carsley last week for the matches against Ireland and Finland.
Robinson, who went in the opposite direction to Grealish playing for England’s youth teams before eventually opting for Ireland, expects the 28-year-old to take the situation head on.
“I think he’ll be bracing himself for a few boos, but that’s part of the game,” said Robinson, Grealish’s former teammate at Aston Villa, on Tuesday. “He’s old enough and now that he’s an older player, he knows those things are coming. I’d be surprised if he didn’t manage it well because I think he gets booed everywhere he goes, even in England .”
