As a result, the Cameroonians and Canadians also secured themselves in the round of 16 as two of the best third teams, as no team in Groups C and E could surpass them on points and, if they could match them, they would not be able to get a better goal difference either.
Concern in Colombia
Despite taking the lead in Group A with the goal of center Mary José Álvarez, Colombia ended the day concerned about the departure, in an ambulance, of defender Yunaira López, considering that the team attacker Karla Viancha lost on the first day.
“We suffered with (midfielder Daniela) Garavito (who was injured two days before the debut), we suffered with Karla Viancha. Before that (center Stefany) Perlaza and Ana María Guzmán (Bayern Munich full back) did not recover) ,” said coach Carlos Paniagua.
The Pablo Tobón Uribe Hospital in Medellín, where the player is being treated, confirmed that López suffered “mild craniocerebral trauma” and will continue under observation.
Debut and negative record
The Fiji national team closed its participation in its first U-20 Women’s World Cup with a 0-11 defeat against France, the biggest historical win in a tournament of this category.
The island team, led by Singaporean Angeline Chua, could not fulfill the dream of scoring even one goal and, on the contrary, conceded 29.
In their debut, they lost 9-0 to Brazil and then conceded another nine goals from the Canadians.
Undisputed leader of the group of death
Brazil became favorites for the title by winning, with a perfect score, the group of death. The great figure of the team is the attacker Natália Vendito, who is the leading scorer of the tournament with five goals.
It should be added that the team got a reinforcement on the last day: the promising attacker Dudinha, who against Canada showed the reasons why he went to the tournament as one of the players to watch.
Rosana Augusto has also managed to put together a strong team at the back, which has not conceded a goal in three games, with a solid line of three consisting of center backs Guta, Carla and Rebeca.
On this day, 16 goals were scored in four games for an average of 4.
