Luis Rubialesformer president of RFEF; you can see each other’s faces FIFA next November 7th. This is the date set by Swiss Sports Court (CAS) for the hearing between the two parties, after the former president of the federation body appealed at the last instance of sports justice against the penalty of three years of disqualification imposed by FIFA as a result of his conduct in the final of the Women’s World Cup in 2023 which was debated on August 20.
Six days after what happened is when FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Luis Rubiales then the then president was temporarily suspended RFEF related to national and international football. On December 6, the disqualification was confirmed, which, despite an appeal by Luis Rubiales himself, was ratified on January 16 by the FIFA Appeal Committee.
We were already in MD on the devastating 38-page document of the second time against the former president of the federation. Writing that ends in a very difficult conclusion, to the point of considering a short three years of disqualification.
About the kiss Jennifer HermosoAppeal of FIFA He expressed his belief that the appellant kissed the player without his consent. To this end, the Commission emphasized that, not only is this its strong opinion, but it is also the specific way in which this incident is widely perceived from the point of view of reasonable and objective observers. And it concluded that this was clearly inappropriate and unacceptable whether consensual or not.
Regarding the behavior of the genitals, he considered that it was irrelevant to compare it with other cases and that it could not be tolerated. This sexist/sexist act can only be considered contrary to the values defended by FIFA.
And regarding the act of grabbing the players and giving them kisses, he understood that he had abused his position as president of RFEF to approach and/or treat players in a completely intolerable and annoying manner” by carrying them and/or kissing them in a controversial manner. Considering all the circumstances of the case, considering -the Committee considers that the imposition of a 3-year ban on the appellant from all football-related activities is appropriate. However, the Committee considers that “it is important to emphasize that the case in question involves in (very) serious violations… a more severe punishment may be imposed, but it is known that it depends on the decision of the first instance.”
CAS is the last chance through sporting means to try to overturn or reduce the three-year disqualification that runs until August 26, 2026. If the penalty is ratified, only the ordinary route remains.
