Frech dominated the WTA in Guadalajara

The Polish Magdalena Frechnumber 41 in the world rankings, won this Sunday the Guadalajara Tennis Open, the 500th WTA tournament, after defeating the Australian 7-6(5), 6-4 Olivia Gadecki.

Magdalena Frech, 26, won $142,000 and Gadecki, 22, pocketed $87,655.

The first set was even. The two enemies imposed conditions on their service. Gadecki got 21 winners with 24 unforced errors, while the Pole had only five winners, but only nine errors that had nothing to do with his rival’s actions.

In the tiebreak there were breaks in the first five points and Frech did it at the best moment, on the twelfth point to win 7-5.

The second heat is different; Gadecki took a risk and made a break in the second game, but Frech recovered to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth.

The rivalry seemed to have reached its final conclusion in the eighth game, when Frech took a break and served for the match. She nervously dropped serve, however, Olivia could not confirm and the Pole took the title, her first in a WTA tournament.

With better physical preparation and more patience, Frech eliminated Frenchwoman Caroline García, the thirtieth in the standings, in the semifinals and this Sunday she was more patient.

With the title, Frech will wake up this Monday in 32nd place on the world list, the best position in his career.

With the arrival of the qualification tournament, Gadecki improved from 152 to 88 in the WTA, after completing the best tournament of his life, with victories against the Americans Sloane Stephens, 2017 US Open champion, and Danielle Collinssecond favorite; the Italian Martina Trevisan and the Colombian Camila Osorio.
