McIlroy got second place from Rahm

Rory McIlroy took second place in the world golf rankings from Jon Rahmwhich is still led by American Scottie Scheffler and where Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick is in tenth place after winning the US Open.

McIlroy’s finish in fifth place allowed him to climb one step on the podium with an average of 7.77 points at the expense of Rahm (7.76) twelfth at Brookline after a bad final day in which he cut short his chances of trying to re-validate victory in the third ‘major’ of the season with 74 shots.

Meanwhile, Scheffler, who fought until the last moment to win the second major this year — he won the Augusta Masters—, combined his lead on the world list, which he led with 10.95 points.

Fitzpatrickwinner after a brisk fight with American Will Zalatoris, premiered his chapter of victories at large and climbed to tenth place from a list where American Collin Morikawa, fifth, rose from seventh to fourth place (7.20), just ahead of Justin Thomas.

American Patrick Cantlay and Australian Cameron Smith, who performed poorly, dropped to sixth and seventh place, respectively, followed by Norwegian Viktor Hovland and American Sam Burns.

Adri Arnaus and Sergio García did not make the cut. Both dropped to positions 56 and 59and Pablo Larrazabal improved an area (70).
