Wimbledon has broken one of its traditions and will allow tennis players to practice on the center court and on court 1the second in the importance of competition, to improve the grip of the court.
Last year, the central court was more slippery than others and there were two serious injurieswith Adrian Mannarino and Serena Williams having to retreat from their fights.
To alleviate this, Wimbledon will allow tennis players to practice on these courtsuntil now reserved only for the best battles, the week before the tournament.
Tradition has marked that the center court will be inaugurated the weekend before the tournament in a girls’ doubles matchwhere players are selected by lottery among All England Club members.
Now, some tennis players will have the opportunity to try the grass central the week before the tournament, combining it with the training sessions taking place on the Aorangi terrace.
Two of the tennis players who could get off the center court are Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcarazwho landed this Monday in London with the aim of preparing for Wimbledon, where they will train for seven days and play at the Hurlingham exhibition.
