Another promotion in Alcantarilla

historic year. Like Jairis in basketball, the girls of the La Boca Te Lía team complete a magical season by advancing to the First National Women’s Futsal Division

Another party in Alcantarilla. The players of La Boca Te Lía celebrated a historic promotion to the First Division of women’s futsal last weekend. This is the first time that the group led by José Manuel Ibáñez has entered the elite of this sport, adding its success to that of the Jairis basketball team, which will also make its debut in the Endesa Women’s League next season. It’s going to be a magical 2022 for the sewer sport, whose men’s soccer team has also returned to Group XIII of the 3rd RFEF more than three decades later. Thanks to the win away from home against Almagro (3-5), La Boca Te Lía Alcantarilla rose to the city in the province of Ciudad Real, in a match that took on the characteristic blue color of his uniform in the second half to complete the emergence of the players directed by Alicia Morell.

A coach who ended her first season at the club with the best possible ending. And it is that, mid-season and at the top of the league table, promotion was not a priority for the coach from Elche. But the large group of professionals in the form of a family that has managed to form the coaching staff together with the squad has made it possible to conclude a season that is already the history of the sport in Alcantarilla, a municipality of 42,000 inhabitants whose sport has always been very much in the shadow of what is happening in the capital of Murcia.

Alicia Morell arrived at Alcantarilla with a ready-made roster and with few doubts about players she barely knew. But, as she puts it, “they’ve behaved really well all year, they’ve worked like champions and it’s going to be okay in the end.” Morell, who will remain at Alcantarilla next year, emphasized the great relationship between the players and the coaching staff throughout the year as “it’s a very united dressing room and that’s been the success. We knew we were going to have a hard time and there would come times during the season when we would lose, but the girls have always believed in it.

Morell already knew what it was like to play a ‘playoff’ for promotion to the First Division. “It’s the fifth time I’ve played a play-off, but the first time I’ve managed to climb and it was really exciting.” This promotion was the culmination of a great year for Murcian sororities. LBTL Alcantarilla has managed to rise with a team that can be traced back almost entirely to Murcia, as all but four members of the squad are from the region.

With the LBTL Alcantarilla there have been three promotions to the First Division in different sports. Hozono Global Jairis were the first club to rise this season to the top tier of Spanish women’s basketball for the first time in its history. A milestone that was also reached a few days later, but in football, by the Alhama ElPozo, which was promoted to the Iberdrola League. Together with the first team of LBTL Alcantarilla, they also managed to promote their subsidiary. In the Fausto Vicent, futsal and basketball will be of the highest level next year. El Alcantarilla knows how to equal STV Roldán, with a team in both the First and Second division.

“This is an important step as, thanks to this double promotion, the club will allow 16-year-old players to train in professional football,” emphasizes José Manuel Ibáñez, president of the LBTL Alcantarilla, who joined a team that participated in the third category in 2015. . “A coaching staff has been formed according to the objective and both Alicia and her team have been there when it was needed,” underlines the president of a club that will leave next season with the aim of staying in the category. The budget needs to be increased and we are already working on it.
