“We are deeply saddened by the death of young Colombian cyclist Santiago Ruiz. His passion and tireless dedication will always be remembered. We extend a hug of solidarity and our most sincere condolences to his family and friends,” ministry statement.
The young man, who will join the Return of Colombia’s Future Next week, he is training the road that connects Soacha to Alto de Mondoñedoin the department of Cundinamarca (center)when he was hit by a truck.
“From a young age, Santiago showed a remarkable commitment to his discipline, dedicating ten years of his life to the sport he loved so much,” said Cundinamarca Governor Jorge Emilio Rey.
He added that the young man from Soacha, a city near Bogotá, “in addition to being a local talent,” was chosen “by the Departmental League to proudly represent Cundinamarca” in the Vuelta del Porvenir.
“His dedication and hard work led him to practice famously Bonelo Cycle Clubwhere he continued to forge his future as an athlete,” said Rey.
Last May, the Colombian cyclist Ana Maria Bustamantewho was hit by a truck in February south of Bogotá, died from the severity of his injuries
