He Girona FC continues to progress with its ambitious sports city project, advancing the necessary procedures to launch the second phase of construction. On a guided tour of the newly opened facilities, Delphi Geliclub president, confirmed that, despite already being operational, the facilities will change significantly once the final project is completed.
The sports city, which will cover a total of 24 hectares, will have eight soccer fields, one of which will have stands that will host the matches of the subsidiary, youth team and women’s team. According to Geli, the club expects that in three and a half years all its areas, from the first team to lower categories and business areas, will be gathered in this space. This development will allow Girona to centralize its operations, as currently many teams are distributed in different fields. This unification will facilitate the club’s growth on both a sporting and organizational level, helping to consolidate the family spirit within the entity.
In addition, the project includes improving access for both workers and the general public, with the aim of integrating the sports city into the natural environment that surrounds it. A space will also be enabled for fans to enjoy the area playing sports or walking, making the facilities an accessible and attractive place for the community. Completion of this phase will mark a milestone in the development of the Gironawhich remains focused on strengthening its infrastructure.
