Northern Ireland women wear new outfits sponsored by EE in crucial World Cup qualifiers

Date:

Northern Ireland women wear the new EE-funded uniform for Tuesday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against England at Windsor Park.

This is part of a new partnership between the Football Association of Ireland and EE, which has proven to be a key partner for the women’s international team ahead of the Euro 2022 final this summer.

Most importantly, the new agreement also includes an investment in EE to help 200 women become certified football coaches over the next two years.

This is the latest phase of BT’s long-standing partnership with the Irish Football Association – as well as the football associations in England, Wales and Scotland – to use technology and innovation to transform the lives of millions of players, coaches and fans.

Pete Jevons, Director of Marketing Communications at BT, said: “EE is incredibly proud to be the new lead partner for the Northern Ireland women’s soccer team and we look forward to an exciting time playing in Northern Ireland.

“Our new commitment to support 200 junior football managers in Northern Ireland will complement BT Group’s long-standing partnership with the Football Association of Ireland to improve players, coaches and fans using our shared technology and resources.

The EE and the Irish Federation will award scholarships to 100 women annually over the next two years for the IFA National Training Certification (NCC), an initiative that will prepare a new generation of women to facilitate and organize training sessions.

This is a 25% increase from last year’s NCC coaching pool.

The course includes workshops on first aid, nutrition and online assistance courses and more details on how to apply will be announced in due course.

Welcoming the announcement, the Irish Football Association’s director of women’s football, Angela Platt, said “interest in the women’s and girls’ game in Northern Ireland has never been high”.

She added, “The provision of the 200 EE Training Scholarship for Women as part of this agreement demonstrates the desire we have with our new partners at EE to improve gender representation in our training network.

“It also increases the success of the women’s first team, turning it into opportunities on and off the field in other parts of the game.

Through its 4-3-3 strategy, BT Group is committed to implementing projects that include disability, grassroots and women’s football in the local community.

The partnership has already benefited communities in Northern Ireland.

In February, BT, in partnership with Cybersmile and IFA, launched an online youth training platform designed to combat cyberbullying.

The new BT Skills for Tomorrow partnership will help provide 25 million people with the skills they need to make the most of life in the digital world.

Connect with BT for Good, New Ambition aims to help more people across the UK gain the skills to stay connected, bridge the digital divide and support the UK’s economic recovery.

EE operates the UK’s largest and fastest mobile network, offering ultra-fast connections to more locations than any other operator.

Windsor Park will also carry the EE branding for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against England, with a fan sale expected for the game.
