Rinaldi led free practice at Jerez with the two favourites

The Italian Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Ducati) achieved this Friday at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit the best time in the free practice of the Superbike category, with the two contenders for the world title behind him, for the final scoring event of the World Championship, which is contested until Sunday.

Rinaldi stopped the clock in 1:39.591, along with his compatriot Nicolo Bulega (Ducati) second with 1:39.741 and the leader of the championship, the Turkish Toprak Razgatlioglu (BMW), third with 1:39.766, the organization reported.

The Ottoman has 473 points at the head of the general classification and the Italian Bulega 427, aiming to overtake him in the three scheduled races, one on Saturday and two on Sunday.

They were followed on the time table of the free practice sessions, which took place in two sessions, by the Italian Danilo Petrucci (Ducati), fourth; Northern Irishman Jonathan Rea (Yamaha), in fifth place; and Dutchman Michael Van der Mark (BMW), sixth; while Spaniard Álvaro Bautista (Ducati) was eleventh.

In Supersport, Adrián Huertas (Ducati) of Madrid, leader and great contender to achieve his first world champion title in this category, was the fastest in the ‘Superpole’ with 1:42.115 and guaranteed himself the first position on the grid which is the starting point for it. Saturday’s race.

Huertas needs just five points to be crowned champion if his greatest rival, Italian Stefano Manzi (Yamaha), wins the races scheduled at the Jerez circuit.

Second on the grid, with a time of 1:42.334, was Spanish Jorge Navarro (Ducati), while German Marcel Schroetter (MV Agusta) closed the front row, with 1:42.364.

In the Women’s World Championship, Sara Sánchez of Barcelona, ​​who from third position seeks the world title, is first in the ‘Superpole’ with 1:51.671, ahead of Ana Carrasco of Murcia, first in the general classification with 208 points and second in these practice sessions, where the other Spaniard of the trio fighting for the universal title, María Herrera from Toledo, is third, all with Yamaha.

In the World Supersport 300, Spaniard Íñigo Iglesias (Kawasaki), third in the championship with 163 points and with options to win, finished seventh in these practice sessions with a time of 1:52.155.

The fastest was Carter Thompson (Kawasaki), who took first place with 1:51.999, followed by Dutch Loris Veneman (Kawasaki), second in the general classification and fighting for the world title with Iglesias and the Indonesian Aldi Mahendra (Yamaha ), who this Friday made the fourth best score.

The first racing rounds of the weekend are scheduled for Saturday and the remaining rounds on Sunday.
