FIFA responded to the request of female footballers

Date:

FIFA on Monday defended the agreement signed with Aramco, the state oil company of Saudi Arabia, by ensuring that it is an “inclusive” organization and mentioned that part of the income from this sponsor, like others , is dedicated to the development of women’s soccer.

The institution that governs world football responded to this message in a letter sent by 106 professional football players from 24 countries to the FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, where they demand that he violate the sponsorship agreement with Aramco signed in April because Saudi Arabia is a country that “tramples on the rights of women” and the homosexual community.

FIFA arguments

“FIFA maintains its relationship with Aramco and many other commercial and rights management partners. FIFA is an inclusive organisation, with many commercial partners who also support other football organizations and others more sports,” sources told EFE of this entity.

According to FIFA, the profit of the collaborating companies is returned “to the game at all levels and investment in women’s football continues to increase.

On request for a review committee

FIFA also referred to the request of the footballers who signed the letter that FIFA establish a review committee, in which the players are represented, responsible for reviewing the ethical implications of future sponsorship agreements and ensuring that they respect human rights.

Sources pointed out that in May of this year, The FIFA Congress approved seven permanent commissions for women’s football at all levels, including the Players’ Commission.
