Ion Izagirre (Cofidis) will search for Majorca his third Spanish championship title against the clock. The Basque cyclist, champion of La Nucia 2021will try to revalidate his title against an extensive list of ‘croners’, of which the new batch of national cycling talents such as Carlos Rodríguez, Juan Ayuso or Raúl García Pierna.
Elite UCI-Elite cyclists will face a track of 38.5 km and 384 meters of uneven start and finish on Cala Millor and it will share most of its route with sub23 and women. The second half of the time trial will form mostly a round trip section, with almost no curves and ideal for the best specialists to join and make a significant difference.
Izagirre is emerging as the great favorite to wear the Spanish champion jersey he has already worn in 2021 and 2016. Noel Martin (Vigo-Rías Baixas), second in 2021, will start as one of the favorites. It is also worth mentioning the participation in the Valencian paracyclist exam Maurice Eckhard (Dstrel – Hyundai Koryo Car)multiple world medalist and Paralympic medalist who, as happened in 2021 with Eduardo Santas, will compete against athletic cyclists in the time trial in a new inclusion exercise.
