A bad taste in Athletic’s mouth when they drew with the bottom team Valencia

Date:

After the bad taste in the mouth left by the draw against Valencia, bottom of League F, last weekend; Athletic will have to wait until two Saturdays, when they visit Tenerife, with the aim of getting back on track and making it three out of three. Against Ches, who have so far added just one point in six games, David Aznar’s team showed a poor image, even being outmatched at some moments of the game against an opponent in need of points.

It was until the 77th minute of the match when the lions managed to take the lead thanks to a penalty converted by Nahikari. The lions, however, could not cope with the result and lost two points in the 88th minute of play when the Valencian players equalized and got a more than deserved point from Lezama.

The red and white, who have accumulated three wins, two draws and two losses in seven games, will have to wait until next week to try to shake off this draw against the bottom team. David Aznar’s team will visit a Tenerife team two points lower in the standings. The island team has accumulated nine points so far.

Athletic have typically not done well on this trip, as in their nine visits they have only won one and drawn the other. Circumstances happen, however, that both occasions coincide with the last two presences on the island. Aznar had time, in any case, to prepare for this clash.

Despite the draw, it’s good news with the call-up to the Spanish team of Adriana Nanclares continuing her upward progression between the sticks, now one of the most important players in the squad.
