Back to the old way. Bilbao Athletic, as happened the previous day against the bottom team Ourense in Lezama, surrendered its visit to Lugo. A goal from Raúl in the early stages of the match was enough for the Galicians to secure the three points. The goal was reached with a long shot that Gastesi did not know how to react.
That goal allowed Lolo Escobar’s students to play the game that best suited them. The local coach instructed his players to drop back intensively and even did not hesitate to withdraw his only definite forward, Lesme, before the break to introduce another midfielder. The Paraguayan striker did not take well to this substitution and went to the locker room while the game was underway.

Olabarrieta and Canales were the main drivers of the visiting offensive football, but Azkune had the best chance to tie the score. His shot, alone against the local goal, went through the clouds.
The script of the second half hardly changed. Lugo became strong at the back and the sons of Aranbarri again fell to the rival wall and to their own disadvantage. The red and white coach, as expected, parted with the bench, but the changes also did not contribute anything different to his desperate team.
Uncertainty on the scoreboard added excitement to the match until the final whistle, but the Cubs showed their lack of reaction and punching ability for the second day in a row.
