Records at LFP headquarters in Paris

Date:

This Tuesday morning, a search was conducted at the offices of Professional Soccer League of France and in investment funds CVC in particular, as a judicial source close to the case assures AFP, confirming the information from ‘L’Equipe’. These records are part of an investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF), which was opened on suspicion of embezzlement of public funds, active and passive corruption of public officials and illegal acquisition of interests, said the judicial source.

The case began in November 2023 with a complaint from Anti-Corruption, which reported a possible misuse of public funds during the creation of the commercial company Professional Football League (LFP). The commercial company LFP was created after a partial transfer of capital to the Luxembourg investment fund CVC Capital Partners. The agreement signed in April 2022 by the LFP with CVC should contribute 1.5 billion euros to French professional football, compared to 13.04% of its lifetime income for CVC.

According to L’Equipe, searches are also being conducted at the home of Vincent Labrune, president of the LFP. The commercial partnership is also of interest to parliamentarians, who sent a commission of inquiry in April. However, they reviewed the scope of their own investigations so as not to attack the work of the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF).
