The International Tennis Federation (ITF), the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup have joined forces to help victims and those affected by DANA in Spain.
“In a show of solidarity, both tournaments are supporting recovery efforts and encourage people to donate to the Spanish Red Cross,” the ITF said in a statement.
Feliciano López, director of the Davis Cup, and Conchita Martínez, director of the Billie Jean King Cup, They assured that their “hearts are with the communities and families in Spain affected by the floods” and that the two contests will come together to “assist in recovery efforts.”
“Together with the ITF, we will be donating to the Red Cross and we are asking all fans and supporters to contribute as well. Your donations will help provide vital aid and support on the ground for those most in need together we can make a difference” .
David Haggerty, president of the ITF, insisted it was a “humanitarian crisis” and that the organization supports the Red Cross in its “mission to help those affected by the disaster in Spain.”
“Tennis is more than a sport, it is a global family and we have a very important connection with Valencia. We ask everyone to extend their help in any way they canHaggerty added.
