More than 20,000 people paid tribute to the 110th anniversary of the pioneering Tibidabo Cup

The spectacular exhibition featured 250 vehicles (cars and motorcycles) from between 1900 and 1975 and was accompanied by a popular festival where the Castellers de Sarrià and the La Vella Dixieland orchestra performed. All to commemorate 110 years of Tibidabo Cup, a competition organized by the RACC in 1914 starting at the end of Balmes Street and arriving at what is now Plaza del Doctor Andreu.

Alex Scheffler, president of the Avinguda Tibidabo Veïns Association, wants to prove the automotive heritage that Catalonia has: “These cars should stay in this land, not be sold abroad.”

Regarding the two wheels, he emphasized the Ossa de Santi Herrero -a historic brand based in the Catalan capital- and the Honda NSR250 where the Catalan Sito Pons won the first 250 cc world title.

The festive touch of the day was provided by the performances of the La Vella Dixieland orchestra and the Castellers de Sarrià. There was also hot chocolate with churros for the early risers, as well as an exhibition with historical photos of the Tibidado Cup of 1914 and an interesting one of the first council of the Tibidabo Joint Stock Company, which urbanize the Avenue and built El Tibidabo Amusement Park.
