UEFA will open an extraordinary file for Romania-Kosovo

Date:

The UEFA will immediately open, and as usual in this type of situation, an extraordinary file after what happened last night in the meeting between Romania and Kosovo. Both for the reaction of the Romanian fans and for the final decision of the Kosovo team. It all happened in the final moments of the clash between the two and the match was tied at zero. So the Kosovar players and coaching staff left the field of play.

Reaction that came as a result of an argument between players of both teams and that led to shouts from the stands where “Serbia, Serbia” could be heard in addition to waving the flag of the said Balkan country.

Then the Kosovar players left the field of play. In fact, some of the Kosovar players even made the double-headed eagle gesture. An hour later, UEFA and the match referee asked the Kosovo team to return to the field, which they refused.

We will now see what decisions the UEFA Disciplinary Committee adopted as a result of the unusual file.

In the case of the Romanian Federation, the attitude of its fans violates the general principles of behavior included in the UEFA Disciplinary Code where it mentions “that the behavior is insulting or otherwise violates the fundamental rules of decent behavior” or “that use sporting events. for non-sporting events” in addition to “behavior that undermines the sport of football, and UEFA in particular”

The same article 11 also talks about “guilty of causing the delay or abandonment of a match, or being responsible for its delay or abandonment.”

What is certain is that the Romanian Federation has been exposed, at least, to a partial closure of its stadium, established by FIFA itself. It refers to the fact that “If one or more supporters of a member association or a club engages in the behavior described in section 1, the responsible member association or club will be sanctioned, at least , to partially close the stadium.” .

But he also added that, in the case of recidivism, “it will be punished by a match behind closed doors and a fine of 50,000 euros and any subsequent violation will be imposed by more than one match behind closed doors, the closure of the stadium, the loss of a match, the deduction of points and/or disqualification from the competition.”

So, now we can see what position UEFA took more when something similar happened in September of last year and then it allowed the total closure of its stadium, having to play the match against Andorra on October 15 behind of closed doors. What happened last night can be considered a recidivism, something that UEFA punishes harshly

And then there was Kosovo’s decision not to return to the field of play despite instructions from the European body itself and the match referee. Article 27 clearly speaks of “If a match cannot be held or cannot be played in its entirety, the member association or club responsible shall forfeit the match”; indicating that “the team that suspended the match is considered to have lost 3-0, unless the actual result is less favorable for the member association or the offending club, in which case said result is maintained.” Furthermore, if necessary, “the UEFA administration changes the classification of the member association or club in the respective competition accordingly.”
