Thierry Neuville, two points away from the Japan Rally title

Date:

The Belgian pilot Thierry Neuville is two points away from the world title when Rally Japan takes place this Saturdayled by Estonian Ott Tänak with the remaining 70 km stage taking place this Sunday.

After a final super special, Tanak retained the lead in Rally Japan. After climbing to seventh place, his colleague Thierry Neuville needs two points on Sunday to secure the world title.

Ott Tänak has shown himself to be a solid leader of Rally Japan. The Hyundai driver now has a margin of 38 seconds on Elfyn Evans (Toyota)second classified, which fell throughout the afternoon.

An important result for the Estonian in relation to the constructors’ championship, where Hyundai maintains a good margin.

Thierry Neuville finally took seventh place after losing points on Friday due to engine trouble.

The four points added to this result allow the Belgian to be just two away from winning the title. Sixth place on Super Sunday or fourth on the Power Stage is good enough for him to achieve the first world title of his career, at 36 years old.

The same will happen if Tänak misses the plenary session. At this point, simply abandoning the 70 km clocked could strip Neuville of the crown.
