In Unterfrauenhaid (Burgenland) seven fire brigades with 130 men were deployed. No people were injured and three dogs were rescued. However, all help came too late for the fourth four-legged friend.
Thank God no one was injured in the flaming inferno; two owners of the house were able to escape outside in time. One of the four dogs remained behind, for whom all help came too late, reports operational manager Peter Rathmanner of the Unterfrauenhaid fire brigade.
The Florianis were alerted at 1:45 am on Saturday morning. A total of seven fire brigades with 130 men arrived and started the difficult extinguishing work, which lasted until 6 a.m. There was still a fire watch on Saturday morning. “The damage to the house is significant,” Rathmanner said. “It is currently not habitable and it is not recommended to enter the building as the fire brigade believes it is at risk of collapse.”
The cause of the fire can only be speculated for the time being. According to the operations manager, a further investigation of the building has started.
