The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya closes the GT-CET season for another year, which this time is accompanied by multiple World Cup track championships such as the CER, TCR Spain, National Cup and Mitjet Series. In memory it leaves a weekend with the best national motorsport and with a great diversity of disciplines that delighted the fans present.
Alejandro Barambio and Borja García (GT Corse), with their first position, became CER champions this 2024, at the expense of the second classified, Joan Vinyes and Jaume Font, who lost that opportunity. Escudería Faraón took the overall podium with Pablo Bras and Fernando González.
As far as categories go, Pablo Yeregui and Daniel Carretero (CD DAGO) took victory in GPX, while Jan Schidlof and Francesc Gutiérrez (Escuderia Baix Empordà) also did it in GT4. The duo formed by Jurgen Smörg-Francisco Macías gave Promotion Motorsport first position in the GPR, as Joan Vinyes Rodríguez and Marc Carol took gold in Class 1 with Baporo Motorsport. José Luís López and Álvaro Rodríguez (CD Plemar Sport) won in D3 and François Samy (François Samy) in D4.
The internationally renowned TCR (Touring Car Championship) has put an end to its Spanish edition with a combination of talent that crosses borders, showing the level and internationalization of the competition. Mike Halder (TPR Motorsport) was the absolute dominator of the weekend with his Honda Civic. The German has signed an undisputed double in Catalan territory, despite the fact that the real star is Ignacio Montenegro for his coronation this Sunday.
Jenson Brickley, Montenegro’s rival for the title, added ninth and tenth positions on the Circuit. Despite leading Barcelona by 18 points, this advantage was not enough to overcome the Argentine, who is now the new champion. Motorcycle racer Ana Carrasco has also won the TCR Cup title in her first season.
The National Cup chose a new champion this weekend at the Circuit. He did so in particular on Saturday, after a test in which Nicolas Abella (Escudería La Coruña) was good enough to finish fourth to mathematically secure his crown. The mission was made a bit easier as his direct rival for the title, Fabien Julia, was unable to attend the last event of the year.
