Esteban Ocon He didn’t get a chance to thank his former co-workers in person, so he took to social media on Tuesday.
Ocon, who signed a multi-year contract to race with Haas from 2025hoping to close this Formula 1 season with Alpine. However, the team decided to start next year, giving replacement Jack Doohan the wheel for the season-ending race in Abu Dhabi.
Ocon was forced to retire from Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix after crashing in the first corner of the first lap. It was the 28-year-old’s last race with Alpine after four seasons.
«I would first like to thank the mechanics and engineers from all functions on the trackEnstone and Viry-Chatillon who have raced alongside me these last five seasons,” Ocon posted on Instagram.
« We have shared a lot, and I am proud to call many of you my friends. I left Alpine/Renault with great memories and the pride of being the driver who brought the best results of the team since his return to the sport, climbing to the two highest steps of the podium in Bahrain, Hungary and Brazil.
«It was also an honor to participate in fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship in 2022. “I know how important all those moments are to everyone and the feeling that success and joy with the team is what I bring with me.”
Ocon signed with Haas in July, and now The Frenchman will be able to participate in the postseason tests with his new team next week. He finished the season with just 23, as Ocon was 14th in the drivers’ standings.
