Van Dijk turned down Liverpool’s offer

Date:

Liverpool is constantly trying to renew its spine. But they will do it in a measured way, confident that their veterans still have football in their boots for another year. This is the case of Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnoldwho are out of contract with the English team this summer and will need to renew them if they want to continue to rely on them next season.

The case of the center back is special because, as already reported by Mundo Deportivo yesterday, Liverpool sent the first offer to the footballer. Van Dijk, 33, has been linked in recent summers with various teams in Europe and I have no problem leaving the group grid.

According to The Athletic, “Liverpool have submitted an initial offer to keep the 33-year-old beyond June, although did not meet your expectations and so far there has been no progress on the cost or duration of an extension.”

So, Van Dijk would not agree to the first offer proposed by Liverpool and renewal is currently far away. The policy of the owners of the English team follows the canon of not excessively renewing footballers over 30 years old, a cycle in which the Dutch central defender is found.

Now, the conversation must continue as it has done in the past and Liverpool must assess how far it can go for one of its banners of the last decade. His form, very good for his age, raised the debate.
